ADDISS is a charity that provides information, training and support for parents, sufferers and professionals in the fields of ADHD and related learning and behavioural difficulties. This weekend ADDISS are having their 10th International conference at which our own Dr Kewley will be a speaker.
Dr Kewley will be discussing a personal interest of his; ADHD and Giftedness. For practicing clinicians and educators, evaluating whether or not bright individuals might have ADHD can be fraught with difficulties. Many gifted people with ADHD gravitate towards the average with their brightness pulling them in one direction and their learning or concentration difficulties pulling them in the other, often referred to as “dual disabilities.” In others the coexisting conditions and/or the ability to hyperfocus on interesting subjects can mask the underlying diagnosis. Dr Kewley will be discussing some of these key issues during his presentation.
